Project Overview

Cedar Hall was the newest residence hall at Whatcom Community College in Bellingham, WA. A 4 story 275-bed residential hall with room options for studio, 2 bedroom and 4 bedrooms suites with bathrooms, living rooms, and full kitchens. Each floor features a group study space with media spaces and two large open study spaces. The building also hosts a large group activity room with a kitchen, gaming tv, and foosball table.

Workpointe was faced with a few challenges while working on the design with Ankrom Moisan Architects. The bedrooms while currently designed as solo, one-bedroom units. The beds needed to be able to covert and bunk in the future to accommodate growth. But the spaces still needed to be a fun, warm, and inviting area for students to hang out while also standing up to the infamous wear and tear that happens in University environments. By specifying fabrics and product that would meet all of the needs, the project was a resounding success. A true team effort working closely with the client, the architects, and the designer. We created a space that would draw and excite students to live at Cedar Hall and attend Whatcom Community College.
